First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a gut bacterium called Akkermansia muciniphila (AKK) and a natural compound called berberine (BBR) can help manage prediabetes in obese adults. 110 participants were randomly assigned to take AKK, BBR, or a placebo for 12 weeks. The researchers measured changes in blood sugar, weight, and other health markers to see if these treatments could improve prediabetes.
