AI tool aims to predict liver cancer return after surgery
NCT ID NCT07062380
First seen Jun 26, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study is testing an artificial intelligence (AI) model to see if it can predict whether early-stage liver cancer will come back within two years after surgery. About 353 adults with early-stage liver cancer will have standard surgery and then be monitored with scans. Their medical data and images will be used to train and check the AI's predictions. The goal is to improve follow-up care by identifying high-risk patients earlier.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this AI tool could help doctors identify patients at high risk of cancer recurrence early, allowing for closer monitoring or timely treatment adjustments.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The AI model may not be accurate enough for real-world use, and results may not apply to all patients.
