AI-Powered MRI could speed up pelvic cancer detection
NCT ID NCT07407959
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study at Mayo Clinic is testing new AI-based image processing techniques (AIR Recon DL and Sonic DL) to see if they can make MRI scans faster and clearer for detecting pelvic abnormalities like endometrial and prostate cancer. Researchers will compare the new methods to standard scans in 60 adults. The goal is to improve image quality and reduce scan time, but these techniques are not yet FDA-approved.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to faster and clearer MRI scans for detecting pelvic cancers, potentially improving screening accuracy and patient comfort.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage observational study testing new image processing techniques, not a treatment. The AI methods are not yet FDA-approved and may not show significant improvement over current scans.
