AI Doctor's helper: can a chatbot improve emergency brain care?
NCT ID NCT07626229
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether an AI tool called Xuanwu-NeuroAid 2.0 can help emergency room doctors better diagnose and treat patients with sudden brain or nerve problems. About 1,360 adults with acute neurological symptoms will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care or care assisted by the AI. The AI provides suggestions, but doctors make all final decisions. The main goal is to see if AI assistance reduces diagnostic errors, unplanned return visits, or harm within 30 days.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Xuanwu-NeuroAid 2.0 (a large language model AI tool)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that AI assistance improves diagnostic accuracy and reduces errors in emergency neurology, potentially leading to better patient outcomes.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial testing a new AI tool. The AI may not improve diagnosis, could introduce errors, or may not be practical in real-world emergency settings. Doctors remain responsible for all decisions.
