AI heart check could replace ultrasound for AFib patients

NCT ID NCT07486739

First seen Mar 27, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study compares an AI-enhanced electrocardiogram (ECG) to the standard heart ultrasound (echocardiogram) for managing atrial fibrillation. About 1,700 adults with AF and a moderate-to-high stroke risk will be randomly assigned to either AI-ECG-guided care or usual care with echocardiography. The goal is to see if the AI approach is just as safe and effective at preventing serious events like stroke, hospitalization, or death.
