AI eye on iron: smart blood test alerts could catch hidden deficiency

NCT ID NCT07394088

First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether an AI system that analyzes routine blood test results can help doctors detect iron deficiency more often. About 2,196 adults visiting outpatient clinics will take part, but no extra blood draws or visits are needed—the AI simply adds a risk alert to the doctor's screen. The goal is to see if this alert leads to more appropriate testing and diagnosis, especially in people with and without anemia.
