Can a simple rating scale track ADHD in kids with epilepsy?
NCT ID NCT01482026
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether the ADHD Rating Scale-IV can detect changes in attention problems in children with epilepsy. Researchers followed 173 children aged 6 to 15 who had both epilepsy and ADHD. They compared scores over 12 to 16 weeks in treated versus untreated children to see if the scale was sensitive to change. The goal was to validate this tool for future treatment trials.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could improve how doctors track attention issues in children with epilepsy, helping design better treatments.
What could go wrong
This is an observational validation study, not a treatment trial. It only tests a measurement tool, so it won't directly improve health.
