Can a blood filter stop brain swelling after a major stroke?

Summary

This study tests a device called Adacolumn that filters certain white blood cells from the blood. The goal is to see if it can reduce dangerous brain swelling in people who have had a severe stroke. Ten adults with a large blocked artery in the front part of the brain will receive this treatment within 24 hours of their stroke. The study will measure changes in brain water content and check for side effects.
