First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a 12-week after-school active play program for primary school children in Bangladesh. The program includes free play and guided activities to boost physical activity, reduce sitting time, improve sleep, and build movement skills like running and jumping. About 354 children from 8 schools will take part, with half receiving the program and half continuing their usual routine. Researchers will measure changes using activity trackers and skill tests.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a low-cost way for schools in Bangladesh to boost children's physical activity, reduce sitting time, and improve sleep and motor skills.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (354 children, 8 schools) testing a behavioral program, so results may not apply to all settings. The program's success depends on consistent participation and support from parents and teachers.
