Blood test may predict lung transplant need in PH patients
NCT ID NCT07253363
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is collecting blood samples from 550 adults with different types of pulmonary hypertension to measure two proteins, Activin-A and FSTL3. Researchers want to see if these proteins can predict who will need a lung transplant or die within two years. The goal is to find a simple blood test that helps doctors better manage the disease.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple blood test that helps doctors predict how pulmonary hypertension will progress, improving treatment decisions.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The biomarkers may not prove useful in practice, and results may not apply to all patients.
