New therapy aims to ease race-related stress in teens with sickle cell disease

Summary

This study is testing a 10-session group therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for Black teens and young adults (ages 14-21) with sickle cell disease. The goal is to help them cope with race-related stress, reduce depression and anxiety, and improve their quality of life. About 30 participants will join the therapy as part of their regular care at a children's hospital.
