New hope for ALS: can common supplement slow this devastating disease?

Summary
This trial is testing whether a supplement called acetyl-L-carnitine can slow the progression of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Researchers will enroll 246 people with early-stage ALS to receive either the supplement or a placebo for 48 weeks, in addition to their standard medication. The main goal is to see if the supplement helps patients maintain their ability to perform daily activities independently for longer.
