New wire may cut X-Ray risk during heart ablation

NCT ID NCT07515040

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares a new guidewire (AccuSafe) to the standard needle used to cross the heart wall during catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation. The goal is to see if the guidewire is safer and more effective, especially when done without X-ray guidance. 80 patients will be randomly assigned to one of the two devices, and researchers will track success rates, procedure time, and complications.

Active substance

AccuSafe transseptal guidewire

What this could lead to

If successful, this guidewire could make a key step in AF ablation safer, faster, and radiation-free for patients and doctors.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study (80 patients) comparing a device to standard care. Results may not apply to all patients or settings.
