Summary
This study tests whether the drug abatacept can help people with giant cell arteritis, a condition that causes inflammation in blood vessels. About 78 adults with newly diagnosed or relapsing disease will receive either abatacept or a placebo for up to 12 months. The goal is to see if abatacept can keep the disease under control without the need for long-term steroids.
