New scan could spot blood vessel inflammation faster

NCT ID NCT06335888

First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a new type of PET/CT scan using a tracer called AzaFol to see if it can better diagnose giant cell arteritis (GCA), a condition that causes inflamed blood vessels. About 70 people aged 50 or older with suspected GCA will receive one AzaFol-PET/CT scan. The results will be compared with standard FDG-PET/CT and the final clinical diagnosis to check accuracy and safety.
