Chronic graft versus host disease
MONDO:0020547Chronic graft versus host disease (GVHD) is a complication that can occur after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant in which the newly transplanted donor cells attack the transplant recipient's body. Symptoms may include skin rash, mouth sores, dry eyes, liver inflammation, development of scar tissue in the skin and joints, and damage to the lungs. The exact cause of chronic GVHD is unknown. It likely results from a complex immune-mediated interaction between the donor and recipient cells.Chronic GVHD is treated with prednisone or other similar anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressive medications.

New antibody cocktail targets stubborn liver disease after stem cell transplants
Disease control Not yet recruitingThis study tests a lab-made antibody called anti-CD25 rhMAb for people with chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) of the liver that hasn't improved with steroids. The antibody is given alongside standard immune-suppressing drugs. The trial will include 30 adults aged 16-65 wh…

New hope for stubborn Graft-Versus-Host disease: experimental drug combo enters early trial
Disease control Not yet recruitingThis early-phase study tests whether the drug sarilumab can safely help adults with chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) that did not improve with the standard drug belumosudil. Ten participants will receive sarilumab alone, and researchers will monitor side effects and drug…

New drug combo aims to tame transplant complication
Disease control Not yet recruitingThis phase 2 trial tests a combination of two oral drugs, ruxolitinib and belumosudil, for chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGvHD) that hasn't improved with steroids. cGvHD is a serious condition where donor immune cells attack the patient's body after a stem cell transplant. T…

New hope for transplant patients: immune cell therapy targets stubborn graft-versus-host disease
Disease control Not yet recruitingThis early-phase study tests whether a single dose of specially grown regulatory T cells, combined with daily low-dose interleukin-2, can safely treat chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGvHD) in people whose condition did not improve with steroids or IL-2 alone. About 21 partici…

Blood test could predict chronic GVHD after transplant
Knowledge-focused Not yet recruitingThis study looks at blood samples from 1500 stem cell transplant patients to find markers that can predict chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD), a serious complication. Researchers will use mass spectrometry to analyze proteins in the blood and combine this with patient data…
