Scientists probe why insulin fails to open blood vessels in obesity
NCT ID NCT03318094
First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study looks at why insulin doesn't widen blood vessels as it should in people with obesity and insulin resistance. Researchers think overactive nerve signals may be blocking insulin's effect. They will test this by temporarily blocking those nerve signals in the forearm and measuring changes in blood flow and glucose uptake. The goal is to better understand the problem, not to provide a treatment.
