Tamoxifen gel vs. pill: a gentler way to prevent breast cancer?

NCT ID NCT04570956

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tested whether a tamoxifen gel applied to the skin could work as well as the pill form to lower breast cancer risk in women with certain high-risk breast conditions. About 65 women with atypical hyperplasia or lobular carcinoma in situ were planned to take part. The trial was stopped early, so results are limited.
