First seen Dec 08, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study is testing whether a non-invasive ultrasound of the spleen can accurately detect dangerous blood vessel swelling (varices) and high blood pressure in the liver's portal vein. Researchers will enroll 450 adults with advanced chronic liver disease. If successful, this simple scan could reduce the need for invasive procedures like endoscopy or liver pressure measurements.
