Virtual groups aim to ease the hidden burden of health stigma

NCT ID NCT05561595

Summary

This study is testing a new group counseling program designed to help people cope with the stigma they feel because of their health condition. Researchers are enrolling 195 adults with conditions like obesity, cancer, HIV, or diabetes who report feeling stigmatized. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the new counseling group, a general peer support group, or a waitlist to see which approach best reduces feelings of shame and improves quality of life.
