New study looks at a simple breathing setting to improve lung function in ICU patients

NCT ID NCT06919484

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at how a specific part of the breathing cycle (the time it takes for the lungs to empty) affects how air and blood flow are matched in the lungs of patients with ARDS. Researchers will use a special imaging technique (EIT) to measure these changes in 60 adults on ventilators. The goal is to better understand how to adjust ventilator settings to improve lung function.
