Summary

This study looks at how the time it takes for a patient's lungs to empty during breathing machine support affects oxygen and blood flow in the lungs. Researchers will study 60 adults with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) who have been on a ventilator for less than 72 hours. They will use a special imaging tool called EIT to measure changes in lung function.
