Summary
This study tested whether adding a light-activated treatment (antimicrobial photodynamic therapy) to standard deep cleaning helps fight severe gum disease. Fifty adults with severe periodontitis received either standard cleaning alone or cleaning plus the light therapy. The goal was to see if the combination kills more bacteria and improves gum health better than cleaning alone.
