Summary
This study tested whether adding a light-activated antimicrobial treatment (photodynamic therapy) to standard deep cleaning helps people with severe gum disease. Fifty adults received either deep cleaning alone or deep cleaning plus the light treatment. The goal was to see if the combo kills more bacteria and improves gum health better than cleaning alone.
