New nerve block could cut opioid use for liver donors

NCT ID NCT07233096

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special nerve block (RIFP block) can reduce pain and the need for morphine in people who donate part of their liver. 64 donors will either get the block plus standard pain relief, or standard pain relief alone. The goal is to see if the block helps them recover with less pain and fewer opioids.
