First seen Feb 16, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tested whether spraying a blue dye called methylene blue onto tissues during thyroid surgery helps surgeons better see and protect the nerve that controls the voice and the glands that regulate calcium. 136 adults with benign thyroid nodules took part. The goal was to see if the dye reduces nerve injury and keeps calcium levels normal after surgery.
