New scan could spare kids painful liver biopsies
NCT ID NCT01072721
Summary
This study tested a special, painless scanning device called FIBROSCANN to see if it could accurately measure liver scarring (fibrosis) in children with liver disease. Researchers compared the scan results to the standard method—a surgical liver biopsy—in 264 children across five French hospitals. If proven effective, this scan could help doctors monitor liver disease in kids without needing repeated invasive biopsies.
