Laser gum treatment could be gentler and just as effective as traditional methods

NCT ID NCT07487285

First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether using a laser along with ultrasonic cleaning is as good as the standard manual plus ultrasonic cleaning for treating advanced gum disease. About 174 adults with severe periodontitis will receive one of the two treatments. The goal is to see if the laser method is less painful and more comfortable while still being effective at reducing gum pocket depth.
