First seen Mar 18, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This early-phase study tests whether adding lacosamide, a seizure medication, to opioid therapy is safe and tolerable for people with chronic pancreatitis and ongoing abdominal pain. The goal is to reduce a condition called opioid-induced hyperalgesia, where opioids actually make pain worse. About 21 adults who are already on stable opioid treatment will take lacosamide for 7 days and be followed for 21 days to check for side effects and pain changes.
