NCT ID NCT05153785

First seen Jan 15, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tested whether giving lidocaine through a vein during liver surgery can reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers afterward. 124 adults having minor liver surgery were randomly assigned to receive either lidocaine or a placebo (salt water). The main goal was to see how much opioid pain medication they used in the first 24 hours after surgery.
