Scientists test drug to unlock mystery of insulin resistance

NCT ID NCT06354088

Summary

This study aims to understand how the hormone insulin works differently in healthy people compared to those at risk for type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease. Researchers will give a single dose of a drug called alpelisib or a placebo to 32 participants during two separate overnight hospital stays to see how it affects the liver's production of sugar and fat. The goal is to learn more about the biology of insulin resistance, not to treat or cure any disease.
