First seen Jan 26, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tests whether screening pregnant women for malaria early in the first trimester using a highly sensitive rapid test, followed by treatment if positive, can reduce serious problems like low birth weight, preterm birth, stillbirth, or newborn death. Over 2,000 pregnant women in malaria-prone areas are participating. The goal is to see if this approach works better than standard prenatal care.
