First seen Jan 26, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests whether screening pregnant women for malaria during the first trimester using a highly sensitive rapid test, followed by treatment if positive, can reduce serious pregnancy problems like low birth weight, preterm birth, stillbirth, or newborn death. Over 2,000 HIV-negative women with a single baby will be enrolled. The goal is to see if this early detection approach works better than standard prenatal care.
