Blood test may predict throat cancer comeback

NCT ID NCT04564989

First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study follows 220 people with HPV-related throat cancer after treatment to see if two things can predict if the cancer returns: changes in certain genes (TRAF3 and CYLD) and levels of HPV DNA in the blood. Participants will give blood samples and have regular CT scans. The goal is to improve how doctors monitor for recurrence, not to test a new treatment.
