One HIIT session sparks metabolic changes in couch potatoes

NCT ID NCT07146867

First seen May 03, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looked at how a single session of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) affects certain metabolic markers in 21 inactive young adults aged 18-29. Participants did six 3-minute intense intervals on a bike. The main finding was that a specific type of adiponectin (MMW) increased by about 19% right after exercise, suggesting it may be an early sign of the body's response to exercise. The study was observational and completed, with no direct treatment or long-term follow-up.
