First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looks at gum tissue from people with severe gum disease to understand how it heals and fights infection. Researchers will compare tissue from above and below the gum line, and also see if smoking affects healing. 46 adults with advanced periodontitis will provide samples during surgery. The goal is to learn more about the healing process, not to test a new treatment.
