New dental therapy could improve gum disease treatment

NCT ID NCT07286916

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests a new dental cleaning method called guided biofilm therapy (GBT) for people with gum disease (periodontitis). Researchers want to see if GBT works better than standard deep cleaning by checking gum health and certain markers in the fluid around teeth. About 18 adults with moderate to severe gum disease will take part. The study compares GBT to traditional scaling and root planing, with follow-ups at 1 and 3 months.
