Could a common steroid improve septic shock survival? small trial begins

NCT ID NCT07451886

First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This pilot study tests whether adding fludrocortisone to usual hydrocortisone treatment helps control septic shock in 32 critically ill adults. Septic shock is a life-threatening condition where the body's response to infection causes dangerously low blood pressure. The main goal is to see if a larger trial is possible, not to prove the drug works yet.
