Can a short daily workout help hospitalized diabetes patients?
NCT ID NCT06547541
First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tested whether hospitalized adults with type 2 diabetes or prediabetes could safely do 30 minutes of resistance training each day. The goal was to see if this exercise routine is feasible and if it helps control blood sugar and prevent muscle loss during a hospital stay. Only 4 people took part before the study was stopped early, so the results are very limited.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
resistance training (body weight exercises)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that simple in-hospital exercise helps manage blood sugar and muscle loss in type 2 diabetes patients.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early feasibility study (only 4 participants enrolled) and was terminated early, so results are limited and may not apply broadly.
