First seen Jan 19, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tested a special nerve block (deep parasternal intercostal plane block) to see if it helps people recover better after heart surgery. 128 adults having heart surgery through a chest cut (sternotomy) took part. The goal was to improve overall recovery quality and reduce the need for morphine, which can cause side effects like nausea and breathing problems.
