New DNA scanner put to the test against gold standard for cancer gene detection

NCT ID NCT07160010

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study will check if a newer, cheaper DNA sequencing machine (MGI) works as well as the current standard (Illumina) for finding gene changes linked to hereditary cancers like breast, ovarian, and Lynch syndrome. Researchers will re-analyze DNA samples from 248 patients using both machines and compare the results. The goal is to see if the MGI platform can be used reliably for routine genetic testing.
