New drug cocktail aims to shrink Hard-to-Treat bladder tumors
NCT ID NCT04878029
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-phase trial is testing whether combining two drugs—cabozantinib and enfortumab vedotin—can safely treat advanced bladder cancer that has spread. About 32 adults whose cancer worsened after standard treatments will receive the combo. The study aims to find the best dose and check for tumor shrinkage.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- cabozantinib and enfortumab vedotin
- What this could lead to
- If this combination works, it could offer a new treatment option for people with advanced bladder cancer that has stopped responding to other therapies.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very early phase I trial with only 32 participants, so the main goal is safety and dosing—not yet proof of effectiveness. Side effects from combining two drugs could be significant.
