New ultrasound could replace X-Rays for Kids' bone checks

NCT ID NCT07412782

First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a new ultrasound technology called REMS can safely measure bone density in children aged 5 to 18 who have conditions that weaken bones, like osteoporosis or growth hormone deficiency. Unlike the current standard (DXA), REMS uses no radiation. The goal is to see if REMS works well in kids and could become a safer way to monitor bone health.
