NCT ID NCT07521332
First seen Apr 17, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding a blood thinner (apixaban) to a standard heart drug (carvedilol) can prevent serious complications like internal bleeding, fluid buildup, and liver failure in people with cirrhosis and high blood pressure in the liver. About 220 adults with stable cirrhosis will be randomly assigned to receive either the drug combo or a placebo plus carvedilol, and followed for one year. The goal is to see if this approach reduces hospitalizations and improves survival without causing dangerous bleeding.
