Can a quick skin test reveal hidden inflammation in arthritis?

NCT ID NCT07329556

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at whether people with rheumatic diseases (like rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis) have higher levels of harmful molecules called AGEs compared to healthy people. AGEs build up over time and can cause inflammation. Researchers will use a non-invasive device that shines a light on the skin to measure AGE levels. The goal is to see if this simple test could help doctors better understand and monitor these diseases.
