Ancient needle therapy tested for modern HIV pain
NCT ID NCT03855111
Summary
This study tested whether acupuncture and moxibustion (a traditional heat therapy) could help reduce chronic nerve pain in the feet and legs of people living with HIV. Researchers compared standard acupuncture, personalized acupuncture, fake acupuncture, and a waiting list to see which approach worked best. The goal was to find a non-drug option to improve quality of life for people whose nerve pain isn't helped by standard medications.
