Can moving in the hospital save your independence later?

NCT ID NCT03115840

Summary

This study aims to understand if the amount of physical activity a person gets while hospitalized for a very serious illness affects their long-term recovery. Researchers will closely monitor the activity levels of 312 older adults in the ICU and then check on their ability to perform daily tasks, their physical strength, and their memory at 3 and 12 months after leaving the hospital. The goal is to learn how activity might influence disability and quality of life after surviving a critical illness.
