New therapy aims to ease mental health burden for youth with sickle cell disease

Summary
This study is testing whether a type of talking therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can help Black teens and young adults (ages 14-21) with sickle cell disease deal with stress related to race. About 30 participants will join a 10-session group therapy program offered as part of regular care. The goal is to see if the therapy is practical and helpful for improving mental health and readiness to manage their own healthcare.
