New drug combo aims to tackle recurrent brain lymphomas
NCT ID NCT05681195
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This phase 2 trial is testing whether a combination of two drugs, zanubrutinib and pemetrexed, can safely control or shrink brain lymphomas that have come back or not responded to treatment. About 15 participants will receive the drugs in cycles, followed by maintenance therapy with zanubrutinib alone. The study will measure how well the tumors respond and track side effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- zanubrutinib (Brukinsa) and pemetrexed (Alimta)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this combination could offer a new treatment option for people with hard-to-treat CNS lymphomas that have come back or not responded to prior therapy.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase trial with only 15 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The drugs can cause side effects, and the cancer may still progress or recur.
