Can a Brain-Penetrating drug tackle recurrent CNS lymphoma?
NCT ID NCT04906096
First seen Aug 05, 2026 · Last updated Aug 06, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase 2 trial is testing whether paxalisib (GDC-0084), an oral drug taken daily, can shrink or control tumors in people with recurrent or refractory primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) — a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that starts in the brain or spinal cord. The study will measure how many participants achieve a complete or partial response, and whether those responses last at least six months. Participants will take paxalisib in 28-day cycles for up to 24 months, with regular monitoring for safety and effectiveness.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- paxalisib (GDC-0084), an oral drug taken daily
- What this could lead to
- If paxalisib shows meaningful and durable responses, it could offer a new treatment option for people with recurrent or refractory primary CNS lymphoma, a challenging cancer of the brain or spinal cord.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small phase 2 study, so results may not confirm effectiveness. The drug may cause side effects, and not all participants may respond.
